What is Orby TV?
Orby TV is affordable satellite TV with no tricks or gimmicks. Our most popular package is just $40/month. With Orby TV, local channels are always on and always free, and no internet is required.
I heard that Orby TV customers get local TV with an antenna. How does that work?
An outdoor antenna is included with the Orby TV satellite dish. The antenna simply attaches to the dish and it always brings you local TV channels (like ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and PBS) for free! The on-screen guide combines local channels and satellite channels in one easy-to-use screen.
My TV provider removed my favorite local TV station because of a contract dispute. Will that happen on Orby TV?
No! On Orby TV, local TV stations are always on and always free with a digital antenna. Check out the channels you’d receive here.
How reliable is local TV reception with an antenna?
People are often amazed at the quality of today’s all-digital local TV. The high definition signals are awesome! Of course, TV reception varies with location, but in general an outdoor antenna attached to the satellite dish does a great job. How can I tell if Orby TV can be installed at my home?
The Orby TV satellite dish needs a spot with a clear view to the south. If there’s already a dish on your home, you can be pretty sure the Orby TV dish will work too. Or, look at satellite dishes in your neighborhood—they’re probably pointed in the same direction you’ll need. If you or your neighbors get local TV with an antenna, you’ll already know about the local TV reception in your area. Not sure? I live in an apartment/condo. Can I get Orby TV?
Yes, but if you rent, you may need landlord permission. Some complexes designate certain locations for satellite dishes.
What’s included in professional installation?
The standard installation works for most homes and includes running up to 100 feet of cable (included with the installation) from the dish and antenna to one TV.
What should I expect when I’m ready to schedule my installation?
Most installations can be scheduled within 5 days. You can choose between a morning or afternoon appointment. When you book installation you’ll get a confirmation screen you can print or save. The installer should contact you in advance of the appointment to confirm.
I have a dish on my house already. Can I just use it with Orby TV?
You’ll need an Orby TV dish but the installer may be able to use the mounting base or the wiring from your old satellite system.
Can I install it myself?
Most consumers don’t have the tools necessary for the installation. That’s why we negotiated great prices with top-tier installation providers. Your installer will also deliver the dish and antenna, and the professional installation comes with a one-year warranty. However, if you have previous satellite installation experience, you may be interested in the self-installation option.
How big is the dish?
It’s about 27 inches across and 18 inches high. The dimensions are similar to many other commonly seen home satellite dishes.
Can I get Orby TV service in my RV?
Some RVers install the outdoor equipment on a tripod and move it when they relocate the RV. See our RV information page.
Do I need an internet connection? A phone line?
No! You don’t need these to get Orby TV.
Do I need one receiver or DVR for each TV?
Yes, you’ll need one Orby TV receiver or DVR for each TV where you want our service.
What’s the installation cost for two or more rooms?
If you purchase your equipment, the standard installation price for one room is $150 and the installation cost for each additional room is $50 (plus the cost of the additional receiver/DVR). But by purchasing your equipment and installation, you see dramatic savings on your monthly service. If you get our $40 package that’s your ENTIRE monthly expense for up to four receivers/DVRs. Taxes are included and there are, no extra room fees, no local TV fees, and no sports fees. And if you ever want to take a break from that $40 monthly payment, just use our convenient Orby TV app to take yourself off autopay. When your prepaid month ends, you’ll still have free local TV like ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX and the Orby TV on-screen guide. Then whenever you’re ready to resume paid Orby TV service, you can do that with no reconnection fees through the Orby TV app.
If I move, can I take it with me?
Yes! If you purchase your Orby TV equipment, you can take it when you move. If you leave the satellite dish and antenna at your old location, you can purchase a new one from us. If you rent your equipment from us, we can arrange installation at your new home. You will start a new rental agreement with us at the time of that installation.
What’s the DVR hard drive size?
The 500 GB hard drive in the Orby TV DVR will record approximately 100 hours of high definition TV and approximately 1000 hours of standard definition.
What is your return policy?
We are currently offering a 30-day risk-free trial if you buy the equipment and installation from us online or over the phone! Otherwise, our standard return policy is 14 days from purchase, and we charge a $10 restocking fee. See our entire Shipping and Return Policy here. Do I need a credit card to get the Orby TV service?
We accept cards with MasterCard, Visa or American Express logos. We’ll charge your card each month for the service unless you pause your renewal.
Do you mail out bills?
You’ll never get a bill for Orby TV. Just pay for a month at a time for the service you want. Your online account lets you control your spending and lets you see your payment history.
Is there a late fee if I don’t pay on time?
No, we don’t charge late fees.
Is there a reconnect fee?
No, we don’t charge reconnect fees.
Can I “pause” my service if I go out of town?
If you purchase your Orby TV equipment, at any time you can choose to not renew your service. When your paid month ends, your service will be paused until you choose to resume. If you rent your equipment you must keep your service paid for 24 months from your initial activation. After that, you can choose to not renew.
If I want to change to a cheaper package, can I do that?
Yes, at any time you can schedule a change to a lower-priced package or removal of a service using your online account. The change will happen at the end of your prepaid period.
Can I get a refund on the programming?
With Orby TV you pay for a month of service at a time and there’s no contract. Like other prepaid services, we don’t provide refunds once service is paid for.
How much is DVR service?
If you purchase your Orby TV DVR, the DVR service is $4/month if you have a programming package and $12/month by itself, if you just want to record local channels. All taxes are included in our prices! If you rent a DVR, the monthly fee is $10 more.
What local TV stations will I get?
Use our local TV finder to see what channels are available where you live.
Can I control what my kids watch?
Yes, the Orby TV receiver and DVR have parental controls that let you block channels or set ratings limits. When you set up parental controls, you create a PIN that you can use to view a blocked channel or program. The PIN is needed to view blocked content.
Why don’t you carry 24/7 specialty sports networks?
We’ve chosen not to carry some channels that add a lot of expense to everyone’s bill. That’s one way we save you money.
Why don’t you offer FOX News? Is this political?
We definitely do not have a political agenda! We’d love to carry FOX News, and are in discussions with FOX. Please let FOX know you’d like to see FOX News on Orby TV! Their contact page is https://www.foxnews.com/contact. If you like FOX News, you might also like Newsmax, which is on Orby TV Channel 308.
Is Orby TV service available in Alaska? Hawaii? Canada? Mexico? Puerto Rico?
No. Orby TV service is only available in the 48 contiguous United States.
Do you have an on-screen guide?
Yes! We have an on-screen program guide that combines your local channels with our satellite channels.
Can I use my Orby TV remote control to control my TV?
Yes, you can program the Orby TV remote to turn your TV on/off, change TV inputs, and to adjust the TV volume. For instructions, press menu on your remote, then go to Settings/ Advanced Settings/ Setup Remote Control. You’ll program your remote with a code for your TV. Then you can put away the TV remote!
I’ve got a blue screen on my TV.
You might need to change your TV input. Press the “input” or “source” button on your remote. (Use your Orby TV remote if you programmed it to control your TV; otherwise, use your TV remote.) Each press moves to a different TV input, so press slowly then wait a moment. Repeat that until you find the input
My remote control doesn’t seem to be working.
Please check that your batteries are fresh and placed correctly in the remote. This is the most common reason a remote may not work. Also, the Orby TV remote control needs to be pointed directly at the receiver or DVR to work. Make sure nothing is blocking the path between the remote and the box.
Message 900: No Satellite Signal
Make sure the coaxial cable from your satellite dish is securely connected to the back of your Orby TV receiver. Check outside to see if trees or another obstruction is blocking the signal. If you are experiencing severe weather, the signal should return on its own when the weather passes.
Message 901: To order a package that includes this channel…
This message appears on a channel that you haven’t subscribed to. If you believe you did pay for a package that includes this channel, confirm by checking your online account. If you should be receiving the channel, try unplugging your Orby TV receiver, waiting a few seconds and then plugging it back in. This may resolve the issue. If not, please call Customer Care at 877-672-9881.
Message 911: Ready for Activation
This message appears before the receiver or DVR is activated. Once you activate service online or over the phone, the message should go away. If not, try unplugging your Orby TV receiver, waiting a few seconds and then plugging it back in. This may resolve the issue. If not, please call Customer Care at 877-672-9881.
Your Orby TV receiver or DVR includes a SIM card that controls for your service. You don’t need to move the card from its slot in the back of the unit. If the SIM is removed or inserted incorrectly, an on-screen message will ask you to properly insert it. If you get another message related to the SIM card, you should contact Customer Care at 877-672-9881.
